What really ticks me off is when some phones you and ask for some one who doesn't live there, for example " Hi! is (so and so) there?" I say "Pardon me?" and they repeat "So and so," then i say "no, sorry" then the say "sorry," and i say "that's OK" then they hang up for no apparent reason.

What do you expect?! Meaningful, heartfelt conversations with perfect strangers who punched in a 4 instead of a 7?
I guess you'd either make a really great telemarketer or a really bad one!
Micah, you have to realize that you said no and said sorry so what else was the person supposed to do? I guess her or she could have said sorry, but they could have been embarrassed about dialing a wrong number. I my line of work, it's the other way around. People hang up on me.
Up North, people will immediately ask if you know where "so and so" is or if you have their phone number. The funny thing is that usually you do.
